Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills
“How Can I Develop A Victorious Attitude?“
The brief story was told of a husband and wife entering into a small plane which they piloted. After strapping themselves into their seats and immediately after the take-off, the wife heard the sound of a rattle and found a live and deadly rattlesnake in the cockpit with them, directly by her feet.
In a great panic, she told her husband and he shouted, “Don’t worry honey, snakes can’t handle high altitudes, so I’ll take the plane up a little bit higher.”
So after immediately climbing up a few thousand feet he said, “Honey what’s happening now?” She nervously replied, “The snake is starting to curl up into a ball or small circle.”
So he shouted a second time, “I’ll take the plane up a little bit higher” and he pulled back on the throttle and climbed upward a few more thousand feet.
Once again he said, “Honey, what’s happening now?”
And she replied, “it’s curled up into a tighter ball, its tongue is hanging out of its mouth, it’s having trouble breathing, its eyes have rolled upwards into its head and its body is starting to shake.”
Again he shouted, “Hold on and I’ll take the plane up a little bit higher.” So, after climbing upwards another few thousand feet to an even higher elevation, he again asked, “Honey, what’s happening now?”
She excitedly responded, “Nothing! That snake is now DEAD! It’s no longer a danger or a threat to us.” And she opened a little side window and threw its lifeless body out of the plane.
Are you aware that Satan cannot stand or survive the high altitude of your praise? Or that an increased elevation of prayer, study of God’s Word and obedience to Christ will heighten or lift your attitude and destroy the works of the enemy in your life? One of the most important steps in learning how to develop a victorious attitude is discovering the importance of Praising The Lord.
Through praise, you’ll sense a new burst of spiritual energy and receive new insight as your time with God both increases and becomes more intimate. You’ll begin to sense the presence of The Lord, feel the pulse of His heartbeat and hear His voice speaking to your heart. It will appear as if you’re walking around on higher ground.
Acts 16: 25-26 says, “At midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God and the prisoner heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s bands were loosed.”
It has been said, “That when praises go up, blessings come down.” Praise to our Lord always results in piercing through the surrounding darkness and see the invisible hand of God mightily moving in your midst. So whatever you do, don’t give up, JUST CLIMB HIGHER. True worship is your way of attacking back.
Remember, the next time that fear, temptation, or any type of adversity comes knocking at your door, LET FAITH ANSWER IT AND BREAKTHRU IN PRAISE TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
