“Are You Ignoring Your Warning Signs?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

Are You Ignoring Your Warning Signs?”

Jim is driving his car but is failing to listen to his engine because he’s only concerned about his destination and how fast he can get there.

Suddenly, the car jerks, the lights on the dash all come on, there’s a loud rattle under the car, smoke begins to steam from the hood as the car breaks down and he’s forced to pull over to the side of the road and be left stranded. He ignored the noise in his engine, and also that the tires were going bald, losing air and that his tank was particularly empty. But, things didn’t have to end up this like this.

Now, in the very same way, we are often like Jim, losing our focus, misplacing our priorities, deceiving ourselves, lowering our standards, not willing to admit when something is going wrong and not willing to make changes until its too late.

The attitude, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is NOT good common sense but a distraction against routine examinations or constant care.  That mentality is also the enemy of spiritual wisdom and innovation, especially when there’s a need for change, growth and advancement.

The Apostle Paul said, in 2nd Corinthians 13:5 NIV, “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.  Don’t you realize that Christ Jesus is in you–unless, of course, you fail the test?

Are you really walking by faith and trusting The Lord Jesus Christ?  Are you living a life that’s pleasing to God?  Are you walking in His Will and allowing Him to direct your actions through His Holy Spirit as you stand on His Word?  Are you trusting Christ to be your true Source?

Ignoring warning signs or signals can lead to yielding to temptation, experiencing great suffering and can even prove to be fatal. Listen and pay close attention, follow the leading of God’s Holy Spirit and fully surrender to Christ and His Word. Know that God has always had your best interests in His heart and mind.

As you’re walking in faith, learning to be “pro-active” will always have a greater effect instead of not identifying a problem and then waiting for it to get out of control. Start by paying closer attention, even to what’s not obvious, with things that aren’t broke or aren’t a problem yet.  Seek the face of God, learn to be more creative and even think “outside of the box” as you seek to do a work for the Lord.

Yes, things left unchecked will cause you great anguish, bitter defeat and even bring total ruin.  Realize that you are not invincible and there are no exceptions to the rules. Much can be avoided if you will start to pay closer attention, listen to the noises, follow the warning signs and take preventive measures to remain in good condition and strong fellowship in Christ.

Make the time to keep your mind renewed, just like a car needs a periodic check-up or service. You must take some quality time and look under your hood. So, Keep God’s Word ever before you, maintain a prayer relationship with God, walk in faith and again follow the leading of The Holy Spirit.

“How Can I Overcome My Fears Through Faith In Jesus Christ?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

How Can I Overcome My Fears Through Faith In Jesus Christ?

2nd Timothy 1:7 says,For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Are you praying and believing God in faith and it doesn’t appear as if anything spiritual, encouraging, positive or supernatural is happening? Are you experiencing on-going pressures?  Here’s a little illustration that will assist you in seeing Satan as the defeated foe that he is.”

When I was 7 years old, my dad built a chicken coop in the back yard and on one particular occasion, he told me to come outside to watch and learn.  So I followed him out into the yard and into the chicken coop.

Once outside, he told me to catch one of the chickens.  In the chicken yard there were several hens, but many more baby chicks.  I ran around trying to catch one of these chickens and boy, could they move fast!  After many attempts and much laughter from my dad, I finally caught one and brought it to him.

Then I asked him, “What do you want me to do with this chick?”  He said, “We’re going to ring its neck and have it for dinner.”  I laughed because I thought he was joking, but before I knew it, he brutally snapped off the neck of that chicken.  Then, in total shock, I watched as its headless body flopped and moved around all over the place, for what I thought were hours, but in truth was only a few moments.  Then it completely stopped moving and lay still.

Immediately, I flew into the house and watched from the window terrified.  My father yelled to me, “It’s all right, the chick is dead; it can’t hurt you!”  And he continued to laugh.   But in my mind (and my mind was the only one that seemed to matter) that chick acted as if it was not only still alive, but mad and even coming after me!  So, I ran and hid.  My dad proceeded to pick it up, then walked away to prepare it for dinner.

Needless to say, even at dinner, I continued to stare at the chicken.  Even though it was fully cooked, seasoned with gravy, and laying in dressing, I still thought it would move and come after me.  It took time for my mind to become released or freed from its controlAnd throughout my years and experiences in ministry, I’ve discovered that many people today are just like I was in this brief childhood illustration.

They’re having difficulties fully realizing that Christ defeated Satan on Calvary and that the Resurrection is the full proof of Christ’s Victory and Satan’s Defeat.  It was there that Christ snapped the neck of Satan and he was defeated once and for all.  Since then Satan has been put under the feet of all believers through the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ.

Satan is now like the headless body of that chick that I was afraid of as a young child.  Down through the centuries, people have been controlled by fear, by the movements or the flopping of a headless and defeated foe.  You need to know that the devil only has the power over you that you, as a believer give him through fear and allow Him to have.

Remember, I ran because I thought he was going to get me… FEAROr even worse, while sitting at the dinner table, it was still through the controlling element of FEAR that I was continuing to be firmly held captive, blinded and paralyzed in my mind. This is our major battleground and we must renew our mind daily in the word of God, which acts as a sword against the wiles of the devil.

Satan will always try to enlarge, magnify and worsen the situation that you’re facing.  But, we need to see the devil as The defeated foe that he is.”  Trust in the Lord and take the limits off of God.  Stand firmly on His Promises and Christ will see you through.

“What You Should Know When The Devil’s Laughing At You?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

What You Should Know When The Devil’s Laughing At You?”

Breakthroughs and spiritual victories are only won by means which are considered utterly inadequate or totally foolish when it comes to human reasoning or demonic activity.

In chapter three of the Book of Joshua, The Lord gave Joshua some unique instructions to prepare them for the crossing of the Jordan River.  The Jordan River was at its full strength, cold, muddy and overflowing its banks as they approached it. The unusual instructions were that the priests were to pick up and bare the ark, carrying it 1,000 yards out in front of all their military, with the rest of the nation of Israel to follow.  By faith, as soon as the feet of the priests stood in the rushing water, God parted or re-routed the river waters and all Israel proceeded across the great Jordan River on totally dry ground.

Then in chapter six, once again The Lord gave Joshua more unique instructions to prepare them for conquering the city of Jericho.  The city was well fortified by a towering wall that surrounded and protected the city, but The Lord told Joshua to have the priest bare the ark of the covenant, being followed by their military, and quietly march around the city one time for six straight days.  Then on the seventh day, they were to march around the city seven times but on the seventh time, they were to blow their trumpets and shout.  In strict obedience to God, upon shouting, the walls of Jericho fell flat and Israel conquered Jericho on that day.

On both occasions, the commands given to Joshua, to the natural human mind or demonic intellect, seemed very foolish, inadequate  or just plain weird.  Can’t you visualize Satan and the people of Jericho laughing as Israel quietly and slowly marched around their city walls, following a wooden box being carried by a group of priests.  What superstition, what foolishness!!!  So, they thought as they laughed them to scorn.  But, their laughter suddenly ceased on the seventh day when their walls suddenly collapsed.

Today believers are laughed at when we resort to prayer instead of acts of revenge or violence.  True Christians are scorned as we believe in humbling ourselves before God that He may exalt us, instead of using worldly tactics to get by or over on other people.  We believe that in order to go up, we must go down in prayer.  We are greatly mocked as we believe in being a cheerful giver, which is the way of pleasing The Lord, as we trust Him to supply all of our needs instead of using worldly tactics to get over on people.  We are deeply hated as we talk more about our Lord than about worldly, earthly and ungodly conversions that profit our spirit nothing.

Now on both occasions, The Lord instructed Joshua to have the ark of the covenant out in front of all His people.  The ark of the covenant, which is mentioned in scripture over 180 times, represented the presence of God in the midst of His people.  It was the most important piece of furniture in the tabernacle.

When the Israelites needed direction, God always spoke to them in the place where the ark rested.  No matter how strange it appeared, whenever Israel went to battle, the priests carried the ark out in front of their army to let the opposition know that they were not fighting alone, but God was with them.

Now, inside the ark were The Ten Commandments that had been given to Moses, which represented The Word of God.  Next, inside the ark was Manna that had collected, which had fallen from Heaven, which represented Jesus Christ, the living bread from heaven or the bread of life.  Then finally, inside the ark was Aaron’s Staff or Rod that had budded.  A seemingly dead walking staff that had miraculously blossomed, which speaks of the resurrection power of The Holy Spirit of God.

Today God’s Word, the Living Christ and the presence and power of The Holy Spirit continue to be our salvation, strength, defense, deliverance and victory.  As you focus on Christ and keep His word in front of you, you too will  be led through some of the most negative situations, adverse circumstances, painful conditions, dark valleys, hard times and tragic experiences that the enemy will bring against you.

Are you in right standing with God?  Are you looking to Him despite the dictates of your circumstances, surroundings or conditions?  How can The Lord keep you if you refuse to keep your eyes on Him?

Despite the ridicule from the ungodly or unsaved people around you, Christ Jesus is OUR LIFE AND BREAKTHROUGH regardless of all attacks, lack, scorn, persecutions, oppositions, ungodly plots and demonic activity in our world today.

“Don’t Lose What You’ve Got!”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

dont lose hope sign

Don’t Lose What You’ve Got!”

Due to a variety of reasons, so many that have started out walking with God have left their first love (Christ Jesus) by allowing their faith to become shipwrecked through disappointments, temptations, deceptions or lies.

The Apostle John encourages believers to remain vigilant, watchful and stay on course against all the different deceptive attempts to distract and lure the heart’s of believers away trusting God.

Trials, tribulations, temptations, sorrows and disappointments are only part of this earthly life but believers must remember that God has a lengthy and faithful history of saving, delivering, healing, protecting and providing for his people no matter what the temptations, obstacles, challenges or impossibilities.

Our Christian faith is solely predicated on what Christ did on Calvary’s cross and through His Resurrection from the dead.  As believer’s, we are partakers of His Divine Nature because His Spirit resides within us, but we have a responsibility to guard our minds and hearts against Satan and all his devices.

The Apostle John firmly declares in 2 John 1:8 (NLT) which says, “Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward.”

Deceivers come in many different shapes, genders, colors and sizes.  One such deceiver was named Delilah.

Samson was the 13th judge in Israel and The Spirit of The Lord mightily used him, empowering him with supernatural physical strength.  As long as Samson remained faithful to the vow of not letting a razor cut his hair, God mightily used him to defeat the enemy of Israel.  Samson’s power was not his hair, IT WAS THE LORD, but his hair only symbolized his commitment or vow to God.

While Samson had the power to conquer the Philistines, he lacked the power to overcome fleshly temptation, so Satan used Delilah’s lap to give Samson a “haircut in the wrong barbershop.”  (Read the entire 16th chapter of Judges)

For 1100 pieces of silver from Israel’s enemies, Delilah seduced and pressed Samson daily until he exposed his heart and revealed his secret to her.  (Judges 16: 16-17)

Then in the 20th verse it says, “And The Lord departed from him.”  It was not God’s will for Samson’s mission, calling, career and his efforts to end like they tragically did.

The enemy took him, blinded him, enslaved him, ridiculed him, publicly humiliated him and laughed at God.  Even though The Lord was forgiving and gracious enough to allow Samson’s hair to regrow and strength to return for one final victory over the enemy at his death, Samson’s story should inspire believers everywhere to ”be on your guard and don’t throw your confidence away!”

Don’t lose what you’ve been given and achieved!  Keep you heart secured in Christ and don’t allow yourself to become exposed to dangerous people or deceptive devices and methods.

The way to our reward is to abide in God’s Word and let the love of Christ Jesus abide in and through us.  Clinging to the Word of God not only keeps you in fellowship with Christ but sets faith ablaze within your heart and allows you to operate in the power of The Holy Spirit.

“What Effect Does Your Life Have On Others Around You?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

What Effect Does Your Life Have On Others Around You?”

In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, an elderly grandmother to the stand.  He then approached her and asked, “Mrs. Jones, do you know me?”  She responded, “Why, yes I know you.  I’ve known you since you were a boy and frankly you’ve been a big disappointment to me.  You lie, cheat on your wife, manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you’re a big shot when you haven’t the brains to realize you’ll never amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you.”

The lawyer was completely stunned as the room filled with laughter. Then not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked, “Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney sitting over across the room over there?”

She again replied, “Yes I do. I’ve known him since he was a youngster too.  He’s lazy, bigoted and he has a drinking problem. He can’t build a normal relationship with anyone and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was even your wife. Yes, I know him.”  The defense attorney nearly died with embarrassment as the court room once again totally filled with laughter.

Suddenly the judge quickly asked both counselors to approach the bench and, in a very quiet voice, said, “If either of you idiots asks her if she knows me, I’ll send you both to the electric chair.”

Well, What Effect Does Your Life Have On Others Around You?  Is the life that you’re living worth the price that He paid?  Can others see Christ in your daily walk or lifestyle?  Or you walking the walk or just talking the talk?

In Matthew 5:13 NIV Jesus said to his disciples,“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?  It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.”

Since ancient times, salt has been an important and integral part in the daily lives of many different races and cultures of people. While the history of salt is broad ranging and often unique, no one could ever deny it power or influence in our world.

Salt in the form of a tiny white grain may disappear when boiled in hot water, but its power or influence does not cease to exist.  Once you taste the water, you’ll be reminded of its presence, influence and authority.

The Lord, in making this analogy, is saying that the only hope, remedy or cure for mankind is the genuine active Christian character and godly principles of born-again spirit-filled believers in fellowship with God.  The outward living of the indwelling Holy Spirit is meant to have a definite impact and effect upon the rest of the world.

But then our Lord told his disciples that if it becomes tasteless and loses its ability to preserve, it then becomes useless, ineffective and unprofitable and should be tossed into the streets.

True Living Christianity is the only “salt of the earth,” which alone can withstand, resist and yet have power over all the corruption today.  But the salt must remain powerful in order to be influential and effective.  For what else can take its place?   So, let your light shine that others may see Christ in you and glorify God.

“Do You Hate The ‘F’ Word As Much As I Do?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

The F word

Do You Hate The ‘F’ Word As Much As I Do?”

I cringe every time I hear the “F” word.  The obvious reason is that my physical body and Satan doesn’t want me to do it.  But FASTING is one of the most profitable, beneficial and spiritual ways that helps render the flesh as being dead so that the inner or spirit man may grow in Christ, be delivered from the various demonic attacks, receive inspirational or revelation from God and experience His Resurrection Power in your surroundings.

Fasting is a personal, or an agreed upon time with other believers, expression of sincere devotion when seeking God and walking by faith within Christianity.  It is the abstaining from foods, and other pleasures like watching television shows, talking with friends over the telephone or reading newspapers, that you may experience the divine intervention of God.  It is and always must be an act of worship where hearts are set on seeking The Lord first.

The true focus of fasting MUST NOT BE on the abstaining from food and longing for what you’re lacking, instead it MUST BE to take your eyes off the tings of this world to concentrate completely on The Lord.  So denying our flesh is one of the ways to show God that we are serious about seeking His Face.  But fasting before The Lord should not every be considered a just a “method for dieting or losing weight.”  Again, it is temporarily giving up something in order to draw closer to God and have Him move mightily in your life.

While it should never be done from your heart to be seen just to convince others of “your spirituality,” it’s a very special time, that you specifically schedule or set apart to seek The Lord, study and meditate in His Word, pray without ceasing and listen to The Holy Spirit of God.  And what you seek in private, He’s promised to reward you openly.

Fasting with prayer usually results with The Holy Spirit moving in some of the most usual and dynamic ways in the midst of God’s people.  Closed doors have been opened, prayers answered, direction given, enemies overcame, bodies healed, revivals born, weather conditions changed and lives dramatically delivered by the awesome power of The Living Christ as a result of fasting and prayer.

When Jesus was talking with His disciples He taught them about fasting and made it known that it was be expected that His disciples would fast (Matthew 6:16-18).

Then Jesus told his disciples, after they had failed to cast the demonic spirit out a man’s son that had been brought to Him, “that this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” (Matthew 17:21)

While the Bible has various examples of one-day, three-day, seven-day and even forty-day fasts (Judges 20:26, Esther 4:16, 1 Samuel 31:13 and Matthew 4 respectively), your fast MUST ALWAYS be accompanied or surrounded with prayer.

Again, fasting always helps you take your eyes off the things in this world so you can be more successful in turning your focus to Jesus Christ and be victoriously led by The Holy Spirit of God.

“Are You As Close To The Lord As You Should Be?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

close to God 2

Are You As Close To The Lord As You Should Be?”

What is it that’s keeping you distant from Him or from drawing closer and doing His will?  Past disappointments?  Unanswered prayers?  Things not turning out the way you’d hoped or planned?   Confusion, hurt, anger, or grief?  Sin?

What you don’t realize is that Christ knows more about you and your circumstance than even you do.  And your cure, inner healing, answers, comfort, forgiveness, deliverance and strength will all come as you draw closer to Him?

Luke 15:20 NIV says, “So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.”

In this familiar illustration, the son had “messed-up” just like so many of us have time and time again.  No doubt, just like so many of us, rather than drawing closer to God and allowing Him to make “sense out of our non-sense” we struggle to “save face” by continuing to handle matters ourselves.  But, the pit grows deeper and our misery escalates even more out of control.

Then like the prodigal son, suffering, sadness and despair have brought many to the place of realization that this is not the father’s will for their lives.

So even though he was ashamed and was being driven by his needs, he arose, shook off the effects from being with the swine and started his journey home.

Now, it doesn’t matter if you’re a great distance away and it’s been years since you’ve thought about God or if you’re just not as close to Him as you need to be as you’re struggling to press onward.

The beauty in the parable, which Jesus Himself told, of the prodigal son was of the father’s wonderful reaction and exciting love as he saw his son coming to him.   The father had been hoping and watching for his son’s return and once he caught a brief glimpse of him, he ran towards him to love on him.

The father didn’t concern himself with what had happened in his son’s life or the misery that had overtaken him, HE LOVED HIM and only showed His compassion towards his returning son. Then the father unexpectedly but wonderfully threw a large reception to celebrate the occasion.

Though wretched, improvised, beat-down, emaciated and hungry when the father saw his son, he ran towards him and met him in love.

Now, the hunger that’s in your heart for God and the need for His divine intervention in your life are enough to bring you to Him.

Be like the prodigal son and set you eyes towards Your Father.  Don’t confer with flesh and blood, don’t listen to discouragement from others.  COME HOME!!!

Know that you’re out of place not being with Him, close to Him, filled with His Spirit or being led by Him.

Forget about your circumstances or what you’ve gotten yourself into,  TURN TO CHRIST!!!  You will not have a cold reception, because He’s looking and awaiting and even has made provisions for your return.

He’s ready to shower you with His love, forgiveness and amazing grace.  And that’s just the very beginning.

“Are You Allowing Someone To Talk You Out Of What God Has Revealed To You?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

negative talking 2“Are You Allowing Someone To Talk You Out Of What God Has Revealed To You?”

During these days of satanic entrapments, false prophesying, circus antics, idiocy, insanity, and just plain lying, you must learn and know God’s Word and be led of The Holy Spirit for yourself or you’ll face discouragement, defeat, and destruction.

While I believe in the power of God and the gifts of God’s Holy Spirit, have been used in these areas and have personally witnessed God moving supernaturally in these areas, there are still those who will target and prey upon you by saying:“God told me to tell you or I have a word from the Lord for you.” And they have not been sent by God, and you need to beware of these wolves in sheep’s clothing.

God has been and forever will always be FAITHFUL TO HIS WORD, and it’s there that you must always learn to trust in, rely upon, remain faithful to, and then be watchful, prayerful, and use discernment as you go forward.

In 1st Kings Chapter 13, we are given the story where God had spoken to an unnamed prophet and directed him to go prophesy against the evil king Jeroboam who had built false altars to make people worship idols all throughout the land of Judah. The anointing of God was so upon this prophet that even when Jeroboam attempted to lay his hands on this prophet, the king’s hands miraculously “dried up” and then healed just for him to see, know, and experience God’s power.

But throughout the story, we also learn that God, in his instructions to this unnamed prophet, had told him not to even eat or drink anything until he had completed his mission and had left that land after delivering the message to Jeroboam.

Unfortunately, while this unnamed prophet was faithful in delivering God’s message to the evil king and he had been miraculously used by the hand of God in doing so, on his way out of that land, he allowed Satan to distract him from God’s Words to him.

Tired from his journey, alone, wearied from the heat of the day, hungry from fasting and thirsty, as this unnamed prophet rested for a moment along the side of the road under an oak tree, an older man claiming to also be a prophet approached him with some very appealing, alluring, and persuasive words.

In 1st Kings 13:18 NIV it says,The old prophet answered, ‘I too am a prophet, as you are. And an angel said to me by the word of the LORD, ‘Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat bread and drink water.’ (But he was lying to him.)”

A false prophet is a presenter of incorrect doctrine or one that will falsely and unjustly lay claim to divine inspiration to lead you astray. We must remember that Satan himself can even appear as an angel of light to bring deception and ruin into our lives.

Satan will bring suggestive thoughts into your mind or send someone directly to you saying: “It’s okay, nobody will know or see you. Everybody’s doing it. An angel sent me to you because you know you have needs. God told me to tell you. Or it’s all right to be religious, but aren’t you taking this thing too far?”

It became totally apparent that an angel of darkness and idolatry came forward to meet this unnamed prophet as an instrument to discredit God’s Word, influence, then detour his mind and mission and then bring destruction into his life.

The unnamed prophet arose, went back into the city with the older prophet, and dined and refreshed himself at his home, all at the great displeasure of God. Then finally, on his way home out of the city, his life was shortened, as he was struck down by a ferocious lion on the main road.

Learn God’s Word for yourself. Walk in obedience to Christ and then you’ll experience the spiritual, supernatural hand of God moving in your life and in your affairs.Yield yourself only to The Holy Spirit’s guidance. Trust in the Lord and lean not to your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge God and He shall direct your path.

“Can You Interpret My Dream?”

Today’s Special Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

Can You Interpret My Dream?”

Two nights ago, I was awakened after experiencing a remarkable dream……

I dreamed that I was hired as a custodian to clean this large warehouse.  After being given a tour of this large facility, I was directly taken to a very large door at the back of this building.

This door was bolted with several chains and locks, then once opened I was quickly ushered in and given a very small flash light to find my way around.  I was given specific orders to just watch over things.  Then after being given these quick instructions, the manager abruptly left and closed the door behind me.

This very large section was completely dark, as I made my way carefully down the ramp onto the floor with only my very tiny light to direct me. But, there was a smell of death in the air.

Suddenly, I saw cages, hundreds, maybe even thousands of cages which were lined up in multiple rows.   Then, as I looked closer,  I got the shock of my life…..

Within each cage, laid the poor figure of a lion, skinny and weakened from starvation, and emaciated from the lack of water, sunlight, proper care and nourishment. Each lion’s mane was drooping and withered, and their ability to roar seemed lifeless and gone.

I quickly ran back out of that large section and found the manager and inquired as to what was going on?  He angrily told me that the owner of the facility, captured those lions and starves them to death and then skins them.  And with that angry explanation, I was then sent back to watch or guard that huge section.

I decided that it wasn’t right to do this, so for the next few days I secretly smuggled in bread and water to the caged lions.   The lions began to regain their strength, standing upright on all four feet, their manes once again boldly surrounded their faces in full force and with amazing power, they all suddenly began to roar.

The building shook from the trembling of their collective ferocious roars, when suddenly the owner of the warehouse came angrily rushing in.  As he began to violently yell and scream at me, suddenly all the doors of each cage quickly opened and with great sprinting force, the majority of those lions pounced upon the owner destroying him, while a few others surrounded me to safely protect me from any danger.

Then with even greater force, the lions overcame that door that had once held them captive and they all exited that facility, back out into the world.

Suddenly, I awoke from my dream and I sensed the very presence of The Holy Spirit of God, as I sat on the edge of my bed pondering and meditating on this dream.

“Why Did Jesus Tell Us To Remember Lot’s Wife?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

looking back

Why Did Jesus Tell Us To Remember Lot’s Wife?”

In looking back or yearning for yesterday you’ll not only refuse to break away from your past but you’ll be kept from realizing and accepting what God’s trying to do now in your life.

In Luke 17:32, Jesus gave an excellent example of this in warning His followers to “Remember Lot’s Wife.”

In Genesis chapter 19, we read of the story about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah by God, the deliverance of Lot’s Family from the city and the destruction of Lot’s wife.   Because her heart still remained in Sodom and she yearned for past things, she met her doom because she failed to adhere to God’s commandment to “run for your life and not to look back.”

In looking back, her heart and soul refused to break away from her past or former life that God was trying to save and deliver her from.

Satan is the master deceiver, who’s always attempting to place desires in your mind to yearn for former sins, past ungodly habits, negative relationships and worldly practices in a move to recreate or return back to those former things.       And looking back will prevent you from entering into the glorious doors that God’s graciously set before  you.

Filled with grief and anxiety for departing, she failed to relinquish rather than abandon her past and as a result, ended up losing her soul by her own choice.

Living in the past will cause hesitation, delay and even failure and will lead to missed opportunities and closed doors from God in your life too.

In using this phrase, Christ was first instructing his disciples not to look back in their flight, or to turn back to their houses, to save their goods, when the desolation of Jerusalem would come upon them.

Additionally, in using this very same statement, The Holy Spirit is warning all believers today, against looking back to things that are behind, or turning their backs on Him, in a time of distress and persecution. Such people, says Christ, are not fit for the kingdom of God and in these God has no delight and pleasure.

Don’t allow your past sins, mistakes, regrets, interests, pleasures or experiences to interfere with your pressing onward in Christ.  Don’t yearn for “yesterday.”  Living in or continually dwelling on the past will lead you off in the wrong direction.

Looking back is wonderful for counting your past blessings, seeing where the Lord has brought you from and being thankful for certain past cherished memories.  But it was never meant for you to become so pre-occupied with or too comfortable in that you would remain fixed, resist change, and refuse to go forward.

The Lord wants to do something new and exciting in and through your life today.  He has placed some new doors in front of you, but you can only arrive and enter in by faith.

Isaiah 43:19 NLT says, “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”

Can You Receive This Special Prophetic Word From The Lord?

“Something that has not been seen or experienced in and through you will occur as you follow Me.  Don’t doubt in your heart, stand on My Word and walk in My Spirit saith God, and I will do amazing and wonderful things in your life that will surpass all that has ever been formerly done.”
