“Are You Going To Church But Returning Home The Same Way?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

Are You Going To Church But Returning Home The Same Way?”

Do you have questions that need real answers?  Are you in need of a fresh revelation from The Lord?    Are you praying but not seeing answers?  Do you want to see the power of God moving in your life?

Experiencing the grace and power of God is MUCH MORE than just routinely attending a religious service, sitting in a church pew, clapping your hands to the beat of the praise music or saying an occasional “Amen” as the pastor preaches.  “Are you just sitting in the premises or standing on God’s promises?”

The Word of God is The Power of God Through Christ Jesus.  The same Word that became flesh through the incarnation is very real today through His resurrection. And today, Jesus still saves, forgives, delivers, heals, provides for, comforts, enables and strengthens.  DO YOU KNOW AND BELIEVE HIM?

In Acts 8:26-40, we are given an amazing story in which The Holy Spirit goes into great detail to tell us about a man returning home unsatisfied about his religious experience and was still hungry for the truth.

Returning from the Jewish worship services in Jerusalem, he sat reading a scroll of Isaiah 53: 7-8, with a great desire to know more.  There was still a void in his heart as he left, but God went into action on the dusty road as he was on his way back home.

Philip, who was one of the original deacons selected to serve tables in the church, had been elevated and was now mightily being used by God to evangelize the region by preaching Jesus Christ.

Philip, who wasn’t told what to expect, was being divinely guided to go to a desert road as The Lord was supernaturally guiding the events.  So upon arrival, he found this Ethiopian Eunuch of great authority sitting in his chariot reading.

When Philip appeared, the Ethiopian Eunuch didn’t question Philip about who he was or where he’d come from.  He needed something else, ANSWERS!   Answers that only God could supply.

So a man of God, full of The Word of God, anointed with The Spirit of God was being used to preach Jesus Christ.

God had gone and still goes to great lengths for you to know and experience Him.  The only question that remains is “Are you willing to allow Christ to impact your life through His Word and Holy Spirit?”

In Acts 8:30-31 NASB, the Bible says, “Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” And he said, “Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

Philip did more than just interpret this portion of scripture, HE PREACHED JESUS to this eunuch.  He didn’t offer any religious philosophy, traditional church views or new age doctrine.  HE PREACHED THE RESURRECTED AND ASCENDED JESUS CHRIST!

God knows who you are, where you are and what you need mostIf you give Him all of yourself, He will give you all of Himself.

“Is your heart hungry for Him?” What is it that you’re missing or lacking?   What do you need from The Lord?  What void do you have that needs to be filled? What emptiness are you experiencing that needs to be satisfied?  What do you need from The Living Christ?

Christ, through His Word and Holy Spirit, wants to move in your heart and life and orchestrate in your affairs.  Will you walk with Him and allow God to do something gracious and amazing that only He can do.

The Jews of that day believed that eunuchs were prohibited from coming into the assembly of God’s people because they were regarded as ritually impure according to Lev. 21: 20 and 22: 19-25.   But Isaiah had prophesied that one day eunuchs would be allowed into the assembly of God’s people in Isaiah 56: 3-5, and that prophecy was fulfilled here in Acts.

So when the eunuch saw there was water near, he asked Philip to baptize him and after making his confession to Christ, and Philip didn’t hesitate to baptize him.

Finally, upon returning back to his chariot, he wasn’t troubled that Philip was snatched away by The Spirit of God and it didn’t seem to bother him.  For he now had come to experience the Risen Christ for himself and kept on rejoicing as he went on his way back home.

“Why Did David Say God’s Word Is Sweeter Than Honey In The Honeycomb?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

Why Did David Say God’s Word Is Sweeter Than Honey In The Honeycomb?”

Have you ever experienced the soothing and reassuring still small voice of The Holy Spirit in the midst of a troubling situation?  Have you ever been overwhelmed by His greatness as you were awestruck by a beautiful sunrise or sunset?  Have you ever experienced His amazing grace as you struggled through a tough circumstance?

Listen to the psalmist’s heart as recorded in Psalms 19:10 NIV, which says, “They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb.”

David revealed that The Holy Scriptures should be more desirable, valuable, highly prized and of a far greater benefit to us than the air we breathe, the light from the sun or any earthly treasure that you run after.

The Word of God is what God uses to save the lost from their fallen state and it’s what The Holy Spirit uses to enlighten the eyes of every believer.

No doubt as David often hid or ran through the forests, he remembered how the droppings of honey from a honeycomb often sustained, refreshed and re-invigorated him.  But he also remembered how he longed for, was renewed from, and found deliverance and inspiration by The Word of God.

Today, you need to listen to His voice when all you’re hearing is an unfavorable diagnosis from a doctor, negative comments from a ruthless employer or co-workers,  rumors of war building on the international scene from the news, and criticism from other family members or friends.

You need to hear His voice when you’re mind is being bombarded with financial worries or you’re being attacked with sickness and pain.  You need to listen and hear His voice when you’re in need of comfort from experiencing division or a grievous loss in your family.

The Word of God, when it’s received by faith and is being used by The Holy Spirit of God, not only is encouraging, but is sweeter than anything else that can be experienced this side of heaven.  It’s just a foretaste of all that awaits us in eternity.

Have you ever listened to an inspiring message and joy filled your soul?  Have you ever listened to an anointed gospel song and become overwhelmed with the presence of God?  Have you ever just sat alone reading The Word of God and suddenly your soul became filled with joy as you received inspiration, a divine word or revelation from The Lord?

How sweet is His presence, how glorious is His Word, how wonderful and majestic are the revelations from our Living Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

HE LIVES!  HE NOT ONLY REIGNS ON HIGH, BUT HE LIVES WITHIN THE HEART OF EVERY BELIEVER.   Do you have an intimate fellowship with Him?  When was the last time you told Him how much you love Him?  Have you given the Word of God that special place in your life and over your circumstances?

Do you hunger to know Him more and more?  No matter what you’re encountering, He’s your way through the wilderness and the way out of that darkness.

Christ is calling you unto HIMSELF.  Will you taste and see how sweet His words can be to you?

You’ll find Him to be more pleasing, refreshing, exciting and more energizing than any type of food you could ever taste.   His words will be medicine deep down beyond your bone marrow which will bring you such unimaginable delight.

He will be your light in every dark or negative situation.  Whenever you think there’s no hope, you’ll then find His Grace.   He will be your refreshing water in those desert places and your source of strength in times of uncertainty and weakness.

Sweeter than honey in the honey comb is Christ and God’s Word.  Rich in flavor and greater than anything else you’ve ever been exposed to.

Will you allow His Word and His Precious Spirit to be life in your heart today?

“What’s The Key For Overcoming Past Regrets?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

the key

What’s The Key For Overcoming Past Regrets?”

“If I had the sense back then that I have now, then things would be totally different today” is a universal expression that is uttered somewhere every day.  The world is full of people who live their lives wondering what might have been, what could have been, or what should have been had they only made different choices in their past.

Some people have lived with regrets so long that they have become sour as it has become their constant companion and part of their lives.  They’re haunted by their overwhelming past memories, bad decisions and temptation experiences which have now become a heavy weight keeping them from going forward.

Then as they gets older, they can cover their facial scars with make-up and dye their gray hairs away, but their hearts still remain affected by years of discouragement, brokenness, fear, depression and guilt.  And they begin to allow the pain to multiply even as the years continue to go by.

But The Word of God tells us that we should stay focused on what lies ahead and keep our eyes on the finish line.  Athletes are trained to not look back because it will cause them to stumble, slow down, lose their event and miss out on what’s ahead for their careers.

So, what’s the key for overcoming past regrets?  While there is no magic pill to swallow or formula to take, the answer may appear to be quite simple because it actually comes from strength beyond your own.  This strength is only derived from the power contained in The Word of God and The Grace of God.

Hebrews 12: 1-2 NLT says,Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.  We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.”

You must seek the face of Jesus Christ and be filled with His Holy Spirit.  Learning to place Him first in every decision or choice you make will have dramatic changes in your life and circumstances as you yield yourself to The Word of God.

In doing so, you’re making the clear decision to arise, run your race with His help, to cast down weights that lead to sinful activities, to win the crown of glory and not to have everlasting misery in your life.

You know the areas that you have been the most vulnerable, prone or exposed either from habits, temptations or circumstances.  Your ability to subdue, conquer and keep these areas defeated only lies in the strength of The Holy Spirit and your determination to walk in victory as you focus on Christ.  Or sin and Satan will hinder and defeat you from winning in your race.

Constantly studying the scriptures and looking to Jesus will give you the endurance and strength from being overcome by the devil, the world and fleshly carnal desires and future agonies.  But, it’s a daily, consistent, and constant walk in His fellowship.

Jesus Christ is The Leader of the Whole Army of Faith.  Do you want to follow Him and His Standard?
