Daily Devotional – “Are You Allowing Someone To Talk You Out Of What God Has Revealed To You?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

 negative talking 2

Are You Allowing Someone To Talk You Out Of What God Has Revealed To You?”

During these days of satanic entrapments, false prophesying, circus antics, idiocy, insanity and just plain lying, you must learn and know God’s Word and be led of The Holy Spirit for yourself or you’ll face discouragement, defeat and destruction.

While I believe in the power of God and the gifts of God’s Holy Spirit, have been used in these areas and have personally witnessed God moving supernaturally in these areas, there are still those who will target and prey upon you by saying: “God told me to tell you or I have a word from the Lord for you.”   And they have not been sent by God and you need to beware of these wolves in sheep’s clothing.

God has been and forever will always be FAITHFUL TO HIS WORD, and it’s there that you must always learn to trust in, rely upon, remain faithful to and then be watchful, prayerful and use discernment as you go forward.

In 1st Kings Chapter 13, we are given the story where God had spoken to an unnamed prophet and directed him to go prophesy against the evil king Jeroboam who had built false altars to make people worship idols all throughout the land of Judah. The anointing of God was so upon this prophet that even when Jeroboam attempted to lay his hands on this prophet, the king’s hands miraculously “dried up” and then healed just for him to see, know and experience God’s power.

But, throughout the story, we also learn that God, in his instructions to this unnamed prophet, had told him not to even eat or drink anything until he had completed his mission and had left that land after delivering the message to Jeroboam.

Unfortunately, while this unnamed prophet was faithful in delivering God’s message to the evil king and he had been miraculously used by the hand of God in doing so, on his way out of that land, he allowed Satan to distract him from God’s Words to him.

Tired from his journey, alone, wearied from the heat of the day, hungry from fasting and thirsty, as this unnamed prophet rested for a moment along the side of the road under an oak tree, an older man claiming to also be a prophet approached him with some very appealing, alluring and persuasive words.

In 1st Kings 13:18 NIV it says, “The old prophet answered, “I too am a prophet, as you are. And an angel said to me by the word of the LORD: ‘Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat bread and drink water.’ (But he was lying to him.)”

A false prophet is a presenter of incorrect doctrine or one that will falsely and unjustly lay claim to divine inspiration to lead you astray.  We must remember that Satan himself can even appear as an angel of light to bring deception and ruin into our lives.

Satan will bring suggestive thoughts into your mind or send someone directly to you saying:  “It’s okay, nobody will know or see you.  Everybody’s doing it.  An angel sent me to you because you know you have needs.  God told me to tell you. Or it’s alright to be religious but aren’t you taking this thing too far?”

It became totally apparent than an angel of darkness and idolatry came forward, to meet this unnamed prophet, as an instrument to discredit God’s Word, influence, then detour his mind and mission and then bring destruction into his life.

The unnamed prophet arose, went back into the city with the older prophet and dined and refreshed himself at his home, all at the great displeasure of God.  Then finally, on his way home out of the city, his life was shortened as he was struck down by a ferocious lion on the main road.

Learn God’s Word for yourself.  Walk in obedience to Christ and then you’ll experience the spiritual, supernatural hand of God moving in your life and in your affairs.  Yield yourself only to The Holy Spirit’s guidance.  Trust in the Lord and lean not to your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge God and He shall direct your path.

THEREFORE, HAVE FAITH IN GOD!

Daily Devotional – “What Should You Do When You Come To The End Of Your Rope?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

end of your rope 3

What Should You Do When You Come To The End Of Your Rope?

When people come to the end of the rope, why don’t they seek God first, in faith with confidence in His Word, instead of searching for alternative solutions through exhaustive, fleshly, and even extremely costly means?

Why do people, especially believers, explore so many other options before putting The Lord first? When did seeking Christ and the grace of God become a last resort?

“If you’ve tried everything but nothing seems to work, then try Jesus.” While these were the opening words of a song I used to sing in a choir many years ago, over the years it’s seemed to trouble my heart to a great degree and began to make me asks questions.

Considering God as a last resort always results with a loss of time, missed opportunities, delayed breakthroughs, financial loss, family division, and experiencing unnecessary heartaches, hurt and pain.

Additionally, considering God as a last resort can be a sign or a symptom of even a more serious problem: SIN! This is not a time for selective amnesia, doubt, unbelief, or walking in the flesh, but a time to look to Jesus Christ and stand up in faith.

Have you forgotten just how much He loves you and takes delight in demonstrating His power and grace in the midst of His children?  And that’s there’s nothing too hard for Him to do?

1st Peter 5:6-7 says, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

The entire plan of Satan is to bring enough pain and heartache into your life to crush your faith in Christ and produce ruin and total destruction.  But are there any difficulties that faith in The Living Savior cannot cure, remedy, heal, or deliver?

You are encouraged and instructed to cast all your care:  personal care, family care, financial care, cares for the present, cares for the future, care for others, care for your society and care for your church, all on God.

Failure to do this will produce greater heartache, misery, doubt, anguish and unbelief, which always will distract the mind and lead to sin.  The only remedy is to cast all your care upon God and leave everything to His Divine and Gracious Intervention.

Remember the wonderful promising words of Jesus Himself that He spoke in Matthew 6:33, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”

There are so many biblical stories where God entered into a seemingly impossible situation involving an individual, a family, a group, or a nation, where He mightily intervened and rendered salvation, healing, deliverance, provision, a blessing or a victory to those that looked to Him.

So, now this is your hour to trust Him even if you can’t see what He’s doing or understand how He’s orchestrating in your affairs at this very moment. Cast all your cares upon Him. Hang it all on His Cross. Know that Jesus died for you. But even more importantly, know that He Arose for you, and in and through Him you now can be victorious.

THEREFORE, HAVE FAITH IN GOD!

Daily Devotional – “How Do You Act Or Respond When The Pressure Is On You?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

 panic 2

How Do You Act Or Respond When The Pressure Is On You?”

Though we’ve been saved by His Wonderful grace, all believers are still a work in progress and The Lord isn’t finished with you yet.  While you’ve come this far by faith, what’s more important now is to continue walking in The Spirit as you’ll face what’s still ahead of you.

As the storms of life come, we must remain aware that the world is watching and the forces of darkness are observing us. But more importantly, for our survival we must continue to look to Christ and keep the switch of faith turned on at all times.

In Genesis chapter 20, we begin to read in this entire chapter of scripture where Abraham, who started out in faith, entered into error.   Afraid for his own life, out of fear, he began to lie declaring that Sarah, his wife, was his sister.

Your outward actions are always an indication of what’s happening on the inside of you.  Technically, Abraham may not have told a lie, because Sarah indeed was his half-sister, but his excuse did not justify his actions.  He was afraid and acted out of his fear.

Abraham’s best excuse for his conduct was to lie because he thought that the fear of God was not in the place that he had now journeyed.  He lied to simply escape danger from the powerful ruler who was attracted to his wife.

But it’s also out of this dark chapter in Abraham’s life that the question arises, What do you do or how do you act or respond when facing difficult situations?”

“Have you ever acted out of fear and lied?  Instead of admitting that you’ve done wrong, did you try to find an excuse that may have some degree of relevance to your situation and then attempt to stretch that truth?”

Whenever or wherever you might face a difficult situation, that’s when you’ll need Him most.  Call on The Lord, cry out to Him, seek His face, ask for His wisdom and trust on the leading of His Holy Spirit.   Though the pressures in life may seem very real, GOD AND HIS LOVE FOR YOU ARE EVEN MORE REAL.

Now, to further aid you in your walking  in faith and standing on the integrity of God’s Word, here are just a few important spiritual principles that, I have learned, that will help you at all times:

1)  Never allow yourself to become distant from God. Never come to the place in life where you no longer believe that he’s able to keep you, sustain you or even bless you.

2)  You should never become so busy that you forget it’s not by your power or might but by His Holy Spirit.  We must continue to trust in and rely on His Word, Anointing and Transforming power.

3)  You need to remember the revelation that Christ has set you free and not become negative or pessimistic about the lives that God wants to touch through you.

4)  Your love for The Lord must always remain greater than your love for the world.  You can’t allow secret sins to harbor within your heart.  Nor can you allow disappointments to fill you with anger.

5) You must not allow a season of prayerlessness to creep in where prevailing prayers once was your stronghold in God.

6)  Doubt and unbelief will always attempt to distract you away from walking in faith and in the power of His Holy Spirit.  But resist the devil and he will flee.

Remember, CHRIST IS GREATER than hard time, adverse circumstance, negative situation, painful condition, or satanic entrapment that you can ever experience or encounter.

THEREFORE, HAVE FAITH IN GOD!

Daily Devotional – “Do You Want To See A Change In Your Situation?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

 want a change

Do You Want To See A Change In Your Situation?

Despite what you see on your local news, wonderful things are happening today as the gospel is being preached throughout the world.  Yet while we are on the brink of even greater breakthroughs in world evangelism, too many people are like the crippled man at the side of the pool of Bethesda in the 5th chapter of the book of John. They’re hopelessly lying by the wayside discouraged, bleeding, shipwrecked and immobilized in a sinful state, negative situation or painful condition, not knowing the love, grace and power of God.

In John 5:1-16, we are given the story of this man’s miraculous healing by Jesus Christ as he first laid there in that demoralizing and heart-wrenching condition.  After Jesus came on the scene, he asked the man, Do you want to be made whole?”

Just as the man tried to explain his present circumstances, Jesus immediately took authority over his painful and miserable status and changed his entire situation by speaking His Word.

Today, Christ is asking you the same question.  But this time, He’s not just passing by, He’s seeking people out, trying to gain their attention, moving by His Holy Spirit and letting people everywhere know that God has always had their best interest in His heart.

Yes, His eyes are now even set on you.   He’s here to heal your brokenness through His same Word that He spoke to that crippled man lying hopelessly by the side of that pool.

Are you ready to hear and listen to His voice?  Are you ready to recover your lost dreams and arise from that negative situation?  Are you ready to see things change in your life?  Are you ready to turn and LIVE?

Whether your hope or longing is for restored usefulness, to have another chance or a new opportunity to have a fresh beginning, or to have a restored home or a new future, The Holy Spirit of God wants you to realize that you can “LIVE AGAIN.” And Christ is now commanding you to “Rise, take up your bed and walk!”   It all begins with you starting right where you are, making a clear and conscious decision to begin taking God at His Word, professing faith in Jesus Christ and walking in obedience as you’re led by The Holy Spirit of God.

It is God’s Will for your life to be governed by His Word and Spirit as you journey through this world.  It’s God’s Will for His Authority to reign in your life

Hear and receive His command, arise in THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!  Believe the words of Christ, then take and use the authority that He’s given, you in His name, over the situation that has brought you discouragement and pain.

Rise above and look beyond the place of misery, discouragement and defeat and now walk forward in faith by His Grace.  He wants to lift you so you can lift and encourage others.  Will you except God’s new plan for your life?

THEREFORE, HAVE FAITH IN GOD!

Daily Devotional – “Are You Willing To Fight In Faith Or Will You Settle For Something Less?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

fighting 1

Are You Willing To Fight In Faith Or Will You Settle For Something Less?”

Even when you’re feeling overwhelmed by opposing circumstances, are you willing to fight in faith or are you just merely hoping for anything to happen, even if it’s much less?

What would you say to a high school or college student that studies extremely hard, disciplines his time and behavior, but still finds it hard to achieve a passing grade?

While we’ve all had to deal with circumstances that didn’t produce the hopeful results that we were looking for, we also have learned that settling for something less didn’t give us the joyous satisfaction that we originally sought after or desired.

An employee, who worked very hard to get ahead in his career, is un-expectantly handed a pink slip layoff notice and now must face unemployment during the recession. A mother proudly delivers a beautiful bouncing baby boy, only 16 years later, has to struggle to get him off drugs and has to bail him out of jail.

Many of our attempts to be successful or victorious will be met with situations that will try to beat you up and take you down no matter how courageous you might be. So, What Should You Do When You’re Facing Any Difficulties Like These?

In Mark 5: 24-34, we are given the brief but wonderful story of the woman who had been hemorrhaging from a chronic disorder for 12 years. She had suffered many different treatments at the hands of many different doctors but even continued to grow worse, yet after spending all of her money. But, then she heard about Jesus and allowed faith to arise in her heart to win against her battle with sickness.

Mark 5:27-28 says, “When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be made whole.” Jesus commended her for her faith and she was totally healed from her painful and lengthy condition.

Like the woman with the issue of blood, we too must become relentless and tenacious in order to prevail over many of the adversities that we face. At first her secret act of faith was only known to the Lord. But, finally it was revealed that she had the mind-set of a champion and refused to accept anything else outside of being healed as she touched Jesus. Her faith became her strong assurance and confidence, which against all odds, drove her to press her way through the crowd, forward to extract what she needed from Christ.

You too can tap into Christ and harness and convert the storms of life into winds that will allow us to soar. Whenever you feel that you’re being pushed to the wall, then breakthrough that obstacle and enlarge that room. When the adversity tries to press in against you, you need to start and continue pressing into God’s Word and draw closer to Him. Stand on His Promises, be filled with His Holy Spirit and realize that Greater Is He That’s In You Than He That’s In The World.” (1st John 4:4)

Trust Christ to help you rise up and move beyond the limits of your past mistakes or wounded past and be transformed by faith in His Word. Recognize that your battle scars have now made you more tough and resourceful and go forward in the power of His Holy Spirit. He will see you through all the storms of life.

THEREFORE, HAVE FAITH IN GOD!

Daily Devotional – “Are You Living In The Rear View Mirror?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

 rear view mirror 1

Are You Living In The Rear View Mirror?”

The rear view mirror in an automobile was designed for a driver to periodically take a quick glance at what’s behind you or see what you’ve passed. But it was never created for all of your attention to remain there.

Many won’t go forward in their lives because they’re pre-occupied with looking back instead of pressing forward. Others don’t want to make changes because they’re too comfortable with how things used to be.

Their past is familiar and they think more about what’s behind them than about where they’re going and what will happen.  If their eyes remain fixed to the rear view mirror of life, sooner or later they are bound to crash.

You are a liability to all who ride with you if you don’t remain alert and see where you’re going.  Nobody wants to be involved with a driver that’s always looking back or distracted with past events.

In Philippians 3:13-14 NASB, The Apostle Paul said, “Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Paul’s metaphor is that of a runner at a Grecian race, running to win.  In order to win, the runner cannot afford to divert his mind or attention away by stopping to look behind him to see how much ground he had passed over, the past difficulties he had to overcome, if a competitor had fallen, or to check out the locations of the other runners.  He has to keep his eye focused on the prize, control his breathing, extend every muscle and strain every nerve that he might press onward to win his crown.

Each new day is God’s gift to you and what you do with it is your offering back to Him, as well as a gift to yourself and your family.  Each day He grants us His Grace and another chance to seize opportunities to make that day count towards eternity.

While there’s nothing wrong with having cherished past memories, you must not allow the past to interfere with your pressing onward to win the prize.  Don’t allow past sins to weigh you down or count you out.  Confess, repent and walk forward in the forgiveness of God and know that the shed blood of Jesus Christ now covers your sins and they are remembered no more by God.

Don’t look back upon worldly things or activities and start yearning after them like the Israelites did after the fleshpots in Egypt. Stop looking back with regrets.  Looking back can lead to you drawing back, turning around and going off in the wrong direction and crashing.

Some of the things you once valued, pursued or trusted in before your conversion and new relationship in Christ need now to be dropped, renounced, discarded and counted as dung, as you’re now running in the new race that’s set before you.  Have faith in God and press on to your prize, and with His help, know that you will make it.

THEREFORE, HAVE FAITH IN GOD!

Daily Devotional – “Did You Know That Your Darkest Hour Can Become A Place Of New Revelation?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

fear 1

Did You Know That Your Darkest Hour Can Become A Place Of New Revelation?

Did you know that God can turn any bad day or low point in your life to a mountain peak experience with Him? An angry mob demanded her death but the power of God broke through and brought deliverance to her. Then her darkest hour became her brightest day.

In chapter eight of John’s Gospel, we read the story of the woman who was caught in adultery. In John 8: 10-11 NIV is says, “Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they?  Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Jesus reached out to her at the lowest point in her life and when nobody else cared, HE DID. And Christ took her from disgrace and dishonor to faith in God.

Be it out of envy, jealousy, ignorance or hatred, our world is full of accusers, evil spirits, negative people, and others that always want to point their fingers and blame you.

But this Bible story should begin to persuade you that your lowest point or worst day IS NOT your end, IT CAN BE YOUR NEW BEGINNING. It’s then you should realize that you’re NOT a loser, but a learner as you come to understand that a greater work is being done in you than around you by God.

Up to this time, prostitution, fornication and adultery was more than a singular event, it was her lifestyle. Caught in the very act, she was separated from her money, her client or lover and her clothes, as she stood embarrassed, exposed, scared and all alone when she was dragged into the street after providing her sexual service.

Various accusations were being screamed, with many demanding her conviction and death as they threw her at the very feet of Jesus.

While many other crimes merited a far more severe punishment than hers, the Pharisees only brought her to Jesus to entrap Him in preaching against the Law of Moses.  But he stooped down as to write on the ground, not to become distracted by the devil but to allow The Holy Spirit to bring conviction through His Words.

He then stood and said, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” And He stooped back down and wrote on the ground. He knew that realistically, He was the only one there that qualified to stone her but instead of harsh judgment and punishment He offered forgiveness, mercy and grace.

Christ came to bring sinners to repentance; not to destroy, but to save. He aimed to bring, not only the accused to repentance by showing her his mercy, but the prosecutors also by showing them their sins. While they thought to entrap him, he sought to convict and convert them through His Words.

Convicted, when the crowd left, Jesus arose and asked, “Woman, where are thy accusers?” Naturally speaking, it seemed as if He was referring to the members of the crowd, the Scribes and the Pharisees. But this was also a reference to the broken power, the dismissed influence and the destroyed control that the devil had over her.

Once stricken with panic and fear, the woman now stood in peace, alone before The Prince Of Peace. Free, liberated, delivered, healed and changed, she now had a new lifestyle of walking, talking and living.  After receiving her new instructions from Christ, to “Go and sin no more,” she headed off in a new direction.

THEREFORE, HAVE FAITH IN GOD!

Daily Devotional – “Did You Know That You Cannot Run With The Turkeys If You Want To Soar With The Eagles?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

turkey

Did You Know That You Cannot Run With The Turkeys If You Want To Soar With The Eagles ?”

Have you ever heard it said that, “Birds of a feather, flock together?” That’s just a parabolic way of stating that the people and the things you associate with are either adding to your life or taking away from it because it’s impossible not to imitate those that are influencing you from becoming just like them.

Achieving or wining is a continuing lifestyle that’s filled with good choices and discipline. So, if you’re unhappy with your lifestyle and you really want to change the direction of where you’re going, one of the first steps is to carefully consider who you’re hanging around with or what you’re allowing into your spirit.

The people that you’re associating with the most are the ones that are speaking into your life either by what they say or by what they do to influence you. They are either using you as a dumping ground for their negative and pessimistic comments, their critical and discouraging ways, their counteractive and ineffective ideas and their corrupt and deprave manners……

Or they’re impacting your life, family, finances and your future through their constructive, spiritual, optimistic, positive, desirable, upbeat, faith-filled, acceptable and edifying ways, ideas, instructions, advice, assistance, guidance, wisdom and manners. Good role models are those people that refuse to accept their current conditions when they knew they were created for so much more.

God says in Proverbs 13:20 NIV, “He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.” Isn’t it interesting THAT IT’S NOT GOD who will bring down the harm or destruction into your life, NO it’s following the advice, instructions, ways, influence, input and companionship of the foolish and unwise people. It will bring untold misery, depression and destruction upon your own head during this lifetime as well as for eternity.

Not only does it apply towards those you’re associated or involved with but it also pertains to the type of television, radio, internet programing that you watch or listen to. The movies you see, the books, newspapers, magazines and other literature you read will also have a great impact on your life.

But God is now saying that “You Have A Choice Or The Decision Is Yours.” So, choose carefully whose advice you’ll follow and what you’ll be influenced by. If a person gets out of prison, only to go back to his or her old environment, he has set himself up for re-incarceration. You must escape the environment in order to have a brand new beginning or fresh start. You can overcome anything if you’re first willing to be transformed. Learn to regulate and control your conduct and behavior by rising up, trusting The Lord and reaching higher.

So select your friends and associates carefully and be led by The Holy Spirit. Take on the mind-set of champions, the attitude of those who’ve achieved in the field that you’re interested in and learn from their wisdom and commitment to excellence. Develop the lifestyle of a winner simply by associating with those who are what you want to become. Learn from their character and re-shape your habits in order to become a high achiever and a good role model yourself.

Become a leader. Make prayerful and wise personal, career, family and financial decisions. Remember, IT’S YOUR LIFE, and it’s just too precious to waste.

THEREFORE, HAVE FAITH IN GOD!

Daily Devotional – “How Can I Really Know That The Creation Story Is Factual & Accurate?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

 creation story

How Can I Really Know That The Creation Story Is Factual And Accurate?

Many years ago, cynical co-worker approached me one day with a smirk on his face and said, “If you can convince me that Jonah was swallowed by a whale and really survived after 3 days, then I’ll become a Christian.”  My simple reply stunned him when I said, I can’t.”

As I waited watching his puzzled reaction, I went on to say, “You don’t need to believe in Jonah to become a Christian, just Jesus Christ.  Once you open your heart to The Lord and experience His love, grace and the transforming power of God’s Word and Holy Spirit in you, then you’ll have no problem at all accepting or believing by faith any of the other biblical stories because of what God first did in you and your life.”

My friends, there is A VOICE BEHIND THE WORD and one can only hear His Voice and follow Him after they’ve been transformed by The Living Christ. (Read the 10th chapter of John).  And He’s the one that can truly be trusted.

Now over the years, many have asked, “Do I have to believe that the earth was made in six 24-hor days, that we all have descended from two people named Adam and Eve and that a talking snake made them eat a forbidden apple?”

How Can I really know if the creation story in the Bible is really factual and accurate?  Can it be taken literal or is it just a poetic myth?

Whether you believe that information was passed down from Adam as “oral tradition” or directly given unto Moses to record, the absolute truth is that man wasn’t there to witness the creation story when it all happened in Genesis chapter one.  The only way we know what took place is that God revealed it to man and it’s been written to inspire us and answer many of our questions regarding how it all began or happened.

In 2nd Timothy 3:16 The Apostle Paul wrote, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”

Then in 2nd Peter 1:21 The Apostle Peter wrote, “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Whether you’re an atheist, a scientific minded individual, a spirit-filled Christian or a religious pagan, Genesis chapters 1 through 3 presents definite and satisfying answers and details on: “Who we are, How did we get here, What’s wrong with the world, What’s the solution and Where do we go from here?”

Needless to say, it also informs us of God’s eternal existence, supremacy, authority, and His redemption and eternal plan for man.

Now, while the Genesis story does not tell us everything that man wants to know, God has provided us with the details that He wants us to have.  And if the few details that He has given us has filled so many minds with criticism, skepticism and doubt, then wouldn’t more information just lead to the very same in an unbelieving and unregenerate heart?

The 40 different men, who lived over a 1600 year period that God used to record His Words, could not have invented such precise details, prophetic declarations and amazing future events regarding the creation story, the birth and sufferings of Christ or the glory that should follow those that believe on His resurrection.  All of these various details, which were beyond human knowledge or reasoning, were all revealed and dictated to them to write down as they were “moved by” the very Holy Spirit of God.

THEREFORE, HAVE FAITH IN GOD!

Daily Devotional – “Did The Devil Really Make You Do It?”

Today’s Daily Devotional from Pastor Andrew Bills

devil made me do it

Did The Devil Really Make You Do It?”

Convicted by his conscious, a well-known newspaper journalist decided to start writing the truth about his next assignment.  He was sent to cover the wedding of a very prominent wealthy rich man’s son and published the following newspaper column:  “The groom is a popular young bum who hasn’t done a lick of work in his life and while he manages to dress well and keep a supply of spending money, his rich dad is a softhearted old fool who runs around making his son’s bad checks good instead of letting him go to jail where he belongs.”

“The bride is a skinny, fast little idiot who has been kissed and handled by every boy in town since she was twelve years old, sucks cigarettes in secret and drinks mean corn liquor when she is out joy riding in her dad’s car late at night.  While they are expecting their first child in five months, she doesn’t even know how to cook, sew or keep house.  While their home was just newly plastered, the groom was more plastered than their walls and the bride wore more fresh paint than the house had on it.”

The journalist concluded by telling his readers that he knew this article would be his last day at that job.

While our world has taken immorality and evading personal responsibility to a brand new low depth level, people are continuing to blame their heredity, their environment, their parents, the school system, their impoverished upbringing or create an insanity plea instead of recognizing, admitting and repenting from their own sinful activities.

But, all attempts to evade one’s personal responsibility for their individual actions is NOTHING brand new.  In Genesis 3:12 NIV, after confronting him for eating the forbidden fruit, Adam told God, “The woman you put here with me, she gave me some fruit and I ate it.”  Then, when the woman was confronted, she said, “The serpent deceived me and I ate.”  (Genesis 3:13).

Adam was forced to acknowledge his transgression but he does it in a way to shift the blame and lay it upon God and upon the woman.  When the woman is questioned, she lays the blame upon God and the serpent.  She was saying that “the devil made me do it.”

Believing and crying out that the devil made me do it is crediting Satan with power that he doesn’t have, for he cannot make you do anything.  Shifting the blame by telling others that you were held “spellbound or hooked” by the devil’s power is a false accusation, because you’ve always had the power of choice.

Temptation is nothing more than an open invitation or an enticement to commit an immoral, illegal or unrighteous act.  And the devil is raging over the earth as a roaring lion seeking to devour people through these enticements.

Temptation will either come at you gradually, building up as you continue to fantasize or rehearse over it again and again in your mind, or it will come upon you suddenly like a flood, leaving no time for you to run and grab your Bible or find Christian friends around you to hold you up in prayer because it’s calling for an immediate decision to be made.

Temptation has been called, training under combative conditions and you must find the power NOT to give in and become ensnared by his entrapment.

Yielding to temptation will lead to sin, sorrow, destructive acts, broken marriages, divided homes, incarceration, financial ruin, great embarrassment, mental anguish, untold misery and even death.

So, What’s A Person To Do?  BE PREPARED!”  Put on Christ so that when temptation comes your way, you’ll know how to respond.  When Satan tempted Jesus, he used or misquoted scripture to support doing wrong.  But, because Jesus was prepared, Christ both knew how to respond, and taught us how to respond, and sent the devil packing.

THEREFORE, HAVE FAITH IN GOD!
